A family affair shaped across four generations

For over a century, Le Parc Spa Hotel in the Haut-Rhin has championed the art of sincere and attentive hospitality. The family saga began in 1924, when Joseph and Marie-Madeleine Kientzel acquired the property, then known as Zum Lustgarten.

Originally a traditional brasserie, Le Parc benefited from the exceptional wine expertise of Joseph Kientzel, who also curated the cellars at Colmar's iconic hotel, La Maison des Têtes. Le Parc thrived with its renown quickly spreading far beyond the confines of Saint-Hippolyte.

From brasserie to hotel and restaurant

A new chapter began for Le Parc with the arrival of Joseph's son, René Kientzel and his wife Odile. Together, they transformed the pavilion into a beautiful dining room. This marked an era of grand banquets and festive receptions centred around generous cuisine, where tradition was savoured in every bite.

In 1974, Le Parc evolved into a hotel and restaurant with the creation of its first 12 rooms. Now an essential stop along the Alsace Wine Route, René and Odile welcome guests with sincere Alsatian hospitality.

In 1982, the third generation added a defining chapter to the family legacy. Joseph Kientzel (named after his grandfather) and his wife Carmen took the hotel and restaurant to new heights.

Under their visionary leadership, Le Parc underwent a remarkable transformation: guest room capacity was increased, the brasserie evolved into an authentic Alsatian winstub (pub-like bistro) and a balneotherapy pool was introduced, laying the foundations for the future spa. They also added four seminar rooms, a private car park, a beautifully landscaped garden and a fine dining restaurant.

Over the course of two decades, the establishment made spectacular strides forward. The couple's unwavering dedication and work ethic propelled Le Parc to the next level, while successfully preserving its signature warmth and intimate family feel.
